Wild Rumble: Review

Do you remember the feeling you had when you first heard about the game Rocket League? Cars and soccer....how the heck would that work? Well...it did and it's gameplay it's quite addicting. But, as you might know, Rocket League has been around since 2015, and you might be more interested for the next crazy combination in gaming. Well my friend, the wait could be over for you because Wild Rumble has presented itself as that, however where Rocket league is cars + soccer, Wild Rumble is soccer + roguelike. Wild Rumble, a game developed and published by Dolores Entertainment, is a 3v3 roguelike soccer game in which you'll evolve your team as you score goals through arenas. With a charming art style, simple mechanics and addicting gameplay, Wild Rumble has been quite a surprise for me in another crazy idea in gaming that somehow works quite well.

The game reimagines soccer as a chaotic, roguelike showdown where scoring is only half the battle, the other half is surviving the arena. Traditional fields are replaced with unpredictable battlegrounds full of hazards, forcing players to think fast, adapt constantly, and outlast both opponents and the environment.

With its roguelike structure, each loss is a chance to learn, where each run offers new opportunities to evolve your strategy. Between matches, players unlock upgrades, creating dynamic synergies that reward experimentation and clever planning.

The game contains a cast of unlockable characters with unique stats and abilities, adding even more depth. Whether you favour speed, strength, defence, or tenacity there’s plenty of room to explore new combinations.

Each match depending on your chosen, or the enemie's, roster will bring new abilities into the match as you unlock new characters by purely playing the game

Visually, Wild Rumble embraces a cartoon-inspired aesthetic that suits it's tone. Arenas are packed with hazards, though some players may find the art style a bit less polished than today’s top-tier indie titles.

The audio design keeps the energy high with punchy sound effects and lively music, though the soundtrack itself leans more functional than standout . It supports the action well, even if it doesn’t steal the spotlight.

The game’s mix of randomness, character variety, and environmental chaos can be overwhelming at first, specially with how fast each match can be and how ruthless the AI opponents can act with the difficulty increasing as you progress through the run but that’s also what makes it so repayable.

At its core, Wild Rumble is a really nice blend of sports and roguelike mechanics a rare pairing that delivers something simple, different, and fun. It’s not just about kicking a ball into a net; it’s about surviving the madness long enough to do it. Whether it becomes a breakout hit or a cult classic, Wild Rumble is a celebration of chaos, creativity.
