Hello Gamers, Racula here and welcome to another XPN Gaming review!
You may have heard of a Korean horror classic game known as White Day: A Labyrinth Named School, but did you know about it's sequel? White Day 2: The Flower That Tells Lies.
Originally White Day 2, was released as just episodes for pc, but the game has now been recently compiled together for consoles and pc.
It was released on 15th February 2023 and gamers will find themselves returning to Yeondu High School, in a direct sequel. Meaning this is literally set the day after the events of the first game.
Pay Attention class, you might miss something.
Gamers step into the shoes of Korean high-schoolers as they investigate the cause of a fire within their school. Uncover the dark truth that remained hidden and investigate bizarre phenomena's. Evade, run and unravel a twisting narrative, spread across three unnerving episodes.
This means there are multiple endings for each one, fourteen in total altogether.
Due the amount of possible endings, play throughs will be endless, that's if you wish to obtain all the achievements.
Players will have to evade and hide from unkillable night guards and spirits.
Using only disposable cameras to temporarily stun your pursuers, however this only works on the night guards, not spirits.
There will be times where a spirit may attack, your only way is to shake them off and then run. You can still get hurt and and possibly die in game, but the goal here is to avoid either of these.
You'll probably take a few hits at times, you can recover as long as you're in a safe place.
Each random scare really is random, players will be at the mercy of RNG and where you'll be hit.
After a while, I did find some of the scares quite predictable, but still had a few unexpected twists that threw me off.
Not going to lie, but the puzzles in White Day 2 are defiantly challenging, some easy to figure out, some are not and require some thought.
If anything, I would go as far as saying the entire game is one big gigantic puzzle of sorts.
You'll have to explore the school in each episode, to collect items, keys and various other things, to solve puzzles.
Or to just simply progress past a locked door and continue the game.
It does become tedious after a while, with not really knowing where to go or having to run back and forth constantly.
To be honest, I did have to use a guide at times, to help with puzzles and find out what I needed to do.
The game certainly has lots of lore all over the school, that you may find interesting and worth a read.
Giving players a bit more of an insight into what really happened at the school.
Though these might just be minor things, it helps contribute to the story as a whole.
They can give players clues and sometimes a hint for alternate paths that you can follow for different endings.
Don't forget your graphics and music studies
So, on the visual side of things, White Day 2's design of the school is designed incredibly well.
Yeondu High School becomes dark and spooky to walk in around at night, requiring players to use torches to see.
Creating a dark, eerie, and unsettling feel when walking around, as you never know what's around the corner.
However if you turn the brightness up, you don't really need to use a torch as much to go explore.
Although it does lose some of the eeriness in doing this, it's still keeps that unsettling feeling going.
Textures themselves are particularly not brilliant, especially when you're loading into the game.
Graphics become like a ps2 style game and sometimes it does cause the game to glitch.
For example, I was doing a hide and seek puzzle, where you have to hide when the girl stops singing.
But the bodies didn't load up in time as it was still buffering, causing me to be caught by the girl.

On the plus side the audio and music is excellent, the constant noises of ghosts laughing and screaming had me stopping a few times.
Never really a dull moment in White Day 2 with how the ambient music flows randomly.
Making you think danger is coming and keeping you on your toes.
I really thought I had one of the spirits chasing me and had to go hide several times.
Don't be afraid to ask for help
In Episode 2 of White Day 2, I did find an issue with a note that supposed to help with a door code.
instead of helping, it had different text on it, non related to the code, causing myself to be soft locked.
Eventually I had to go and find a guide and find the code that way. This issue apparently is known and is a common problem unfortunately and it can happen in anyone's game.
In all honesty, most of the game I've had to use a guide, as I didn't know where I was going/looking for to progress.

Final grading for White Day 2
Overall, I did enjoy White Day 2, though I will admit I did find it tedious at times.
With having to run all the way around the school, just get to one area to find an item. Then run all the way back, use the item, then go and do something else and repeat the process several times. Also, the main ending I got didn't really make any sense, nor did it tie into the other chapter's endings either. It left me with a lot of questions unanswered.
Aside from this, there's never really a dull moment as you explore around the school. There's always some kind of trouble or jump scare just around a corner.
If you've ever played the first game and enjoyed it, then this game awaits for you.
Thank you to everyone who took time out of their day to take a moment to read this review, your support is always appreciated and means a lot to me.
