In Punch Club 2, you play as a fighter trying to make a name for yourself in a chaotic, cyberpunk future. The game is a blend of simulation, management, and fighting genres, where every decision you make impacts your journey to the top. Imagine if Rocky Balboa got lost in a dystopian future, where instead of just punching meat in a freezer, he’s juggling a dozen jobs, dodging space pirates, and trying to keep his protein shake from spilling. That’s Punch Club 2 for you!
In this game, you’re not just a fighter; you’re a multitasking maniac. One minute you’re training to become the ultimate champion, and the next, you’re flipping burgers to pay for your gym membership. And just when you think you’ve got it all under control, your mom calls to remind you to take out the trash. It’s like living in a sci-fi sitcom where every episode ends with you either in the ring or in a dumpster fire of your own making.
The game’s tonus system is like trying to keep a bunch of hyperactive toddlers in line. Forget about stat decay; now you have to manage your energy levels like you’re a caffeine-fueled squirrel on a sugar rush. And the story? It’s packed with more twists and turns than a soap opera, complete with shady characters, unexpected alliances, and a plot that makes you question if you accidentally switched to a different game halfway through.
So, if you’re ready to laugh, cry, and maybe throw your controller in frustration, Punch Club 2 is the perfect game for you.
Imagine if your fighter from Punch Club 2 decided that just being a champion wasn’t enough. Enter the Iron Fist DLC, where your character’s mid-life crisis involves not buying a sports car, but rather, diving headfirst into the world of underground, no-holds-barred, iron-fisted brawls.
In this DLC, your fighter’s journey takes a wild turn as they join a secret league where the rules are simple: there are no rules. Think of it as Fight Club, but with more neon lights, cybernetic enhancements, and a lot more questionable life choices. Your character now has to balance their regular fighting career with these underground matches, which is like trying to juggle chainsaws while riding a unicycle.
The new training regimen includes bizarre exercises like punching through concrete walls and wrestling with robotic bears. And let’s not forget the new diet plan: a strict regimen of protein shakes mixed with motor oil and a side of raw eggs. Yum!
You’ll also encounter a cast of eccentric characters, including a retired sumo wrestler who now runs a sushi bar and a former astronaut who believes that zero-gravity training is the key to ultimate strength. The dialogue is packed with witty banter and absurd scenarios that will leave you laughing out loud.
The Iron Fist DLC also introduces new mini-games, like “Dodge the Laser” and “Survive the Electric Cage,” which are exactly as insane as they sound. And just when you think things can’t get any crazier, there’s a plot twist involving a secret government conspiracy and a plan to create the ultimate fighter using alien technology.
So what's included in the DLC release?
6 hours of additional gameplay
Control your very own, fully customizable robot and lead it to victory in the Robot League
New robot tech tree with unique attacks, defenses, and modifiers
New Nanomachine Injection mechanic
Foil the plans of the Secret Robo Society, learn Emmit's secrets, and save the city from a hidden threat
Punch Club 2's DLC is a great addition to an already great game. With its robot fighting league harking back to the sci-fi movie Reel Steel. The DLC builds on the core gameplay of the original game, with some nice improvements and more great humour, but it's very short runtime from start to finish might be a tough pill for some people to swallow. TOTAL SCORE: 7.5/10
