Nicole and Sebastien from 1UP PR were kind enough to send me the super cool Pokémon themed Nintendo Switch controller from Power A, and I was honestly so excited! I'm a huge fan of themed gaming gear, and anything featuring Pokémon is an instant win in my book.

There was a small hiccup with the delivery (Postal Side Error) but the team was amazing in resolving the issue for me. They responded super quickly, sorted everything out without any stress, and just when I thought it couldn't get better… they surprised me by including a BONUS Pikachu themed Switch case in the package! Not only did they make sure I got the controller safe and sound, but they went above and beyond with the extra gift.
I love when companies show that kind of care to their customers it really makes a difference and shows that they are all about the community. The controller is impressively lightweight, making it exceptionally comfortable for extended gaming sessions. The analog sticks feature a rubberized grip, helping to prevent slippage even during intense moments of gameplay. The detachable 10-foot USB cable offers plenty of room to play comfortably from your couch or desk. While it’s a wired controller, the long cable gives you flexibility, and it’s also convenient to store or travel with.
One of Power A’s biggest strengths is its wide range of officially licensed designs. The Charizard-themed model, for instance, is a hit with Pokémon fans, blending bold artwork with a quality finish. It’s a fun way to personalize your setup, whether you’re a casual gamer or a collector.
Setup and Compatibility
Setup is as easy as it gets just plug the USB cable into the docked Switch, and you’re good to go. There is no pairing, no charging just instant connection it's that simple. It makes it very useful for homes that have multiple players, if you have switch parties with friends or simply as a backup controller.
The controller is also PC compatible making it a versatile addition to your gaming setup. On Windows 10/11 PCs, it’s recognized instantly when plugged in via USB and works with most games that support standard XInput controllers (the same input type used by Xbox controllers). Whether you’re playing platformers, shooters, or emulated classics, it delivers a smooth and reliable experience.
My XP (Experience)
Playing with the controller it felt super lightweight making it perfect for travel or extended play. The rubberized analog sticks are comfortable and help with grip during intense gameplay. The 10 foot (3m) USB cable gave me all the freedom I needed to sit back and enjoy my session without any worries. The Charizard design is beautiful, there was no transfer on my hands or fading even after playing for a long time or having sweaty hands after an intense battle or two.
The exterior of the case features a soft, crushed velvet-like texture that feels delightful to the touch. The Pikachu decal shares this plush texture, while its embroidered outline adds a touch of luxury. A rubberized grip handle provides a secure, non-slip hold, and the sturdy, reliable zipper ensures everything stays safely in place during transit.
Inside the lid, you’ll find a zippered storage pocket designed to keep your extra cartridges safe and secure. The lower half features a convenient quick access pocket system that holds up to 9 of your most played games, so they're always within reach. Just lift that section to reveal a snug, padded space for your console. Whether you have a standard Switch or a Switch Lite, a custom foam insert ensures a perfect fit and added protection against bumps and motion. To top it all off, Power A brings the Pokémon spirit to life with a bold Pikachu patterned lining that adds style to every adventure.
