Laser Battle Cats – travel & destroy! is exactly the kind of game you buy because the title makes you laugh… and then you realise, halfway through bolting a rotating laser turret onto a radioactive kitten, that you’re actually having a great time.
This is a micro‑scale side‑scrolling builder‑shooter where the “build” part matters far more than the “shoot.” Each run is basically a puzzle: you’re not just firing a beam, you’re designing the beam’s delivery system. Rotating joints, sliding rails, battery packs, power generators, your cat becomes a walking, purring engineering project. It’s like someone mashed up The Incredible Machine, Cats Organized Neatly, and a laser pointer your cat absolutely should not be trusted with.

The loop is simple but satisfying:
Collect kittens (five total, each with different stats and looks).
Feed them radioactive milk to bulk them up.
Build and tweak your laser rig to hit enemies at weird angles.
Travel across continents to zap pigeons, snakes, spiders, and whatever else the world throws at your furry war machine.
Return home to decorate your little cat house, plant catnip, brew potions, and upgrade your workshop.

The home base is surprisingly charming, almost too charming for a game where you’re blasting wildlife with a feline death‑ray. But that contrast is part of the fun. One minute you’re watering valerian plants, the next you’re vaporising European pigeons with a beam that arcs like a disco spotlight.
The updates teased on the Steam page including space travel, nebulae and black holes suggest the devs are leaning into the absurdity, and honestly, that’s the right call. This is a game that thrives on being silly, colourful, and mechanically clever without ever pretending to be bigger than it is.
For £2–3, it’s basically a toybox: short, goofy, and perfect for an evening of “I just want to build a ridiculous laser and watch my cat fire it.”

Pros
Delightfully absurd premise executed with sincerity
Fun little engineering puzzles with rotating/sliding laser parts
Cute home‑base progression and kitten collecting
Bright, colourful pixel art with personality
Cheap price for a cosy evening of chaos
Cons
Very small scope—don’t expect depth beyond the core loop
Combat is more puzzle than action, which may surprise some players
Only five kittens; collectors may want more variety
Repetition sets in once you’ve solved the optimal laser layouts

A compact, charming, laser‑cat sandbox that knows exactly what it is and doesn’t waste your time. Perfect for players who enjoy tinkering, silliness, and the joy of watching a cat solve international disputes with a beam cannon.
XPN Rating: 3 out of 5 (SILVER)
