HeadHunters is the kind of party game that feels like it was designed during a sugar rush and then polished during a caffeine crash. It’s chaotic, silly, mechanically sharper than it first appears, and absolutely committed to one bit: you are the head. No character select screen, no elaborate backstories, no lore dumps, just a disembodied noggin flinging itself across arenas, desperately trying to latch onto the nearest body like a parasitic LEGO brick.
And honestly? It works.
The core loop is simple:
You spawn as a head.
You panic.
You attach yourself to a body.
You immediately lose that body because someone else panicked harder.
Each body type comes with its own weapons and abilities - melee bruisers, ranged attackers, weird gimmick builds and swapping between them mid‑match becomes the heart of the strategy. It’s improvisational chaos, the kind of game where you’re punished for thinking too long and rewarded for acting like a gremlin.
The arenas are tight, the pacing is frantic, and the matches rarely last long enough for anyone to get bored. It’s a party game that understands the assignment: keep the energy high, keep the stakes low, and keep the laughter loud.

Up to four players, fully cross‑platform, local or online, Sumalab clearly built this with flexibility in mind. Couch play is where the game shines brightest, but online holds up surprisingly well thanks to clean netcode and quick matchmaking. It’s also Xbox Play Anywhere, which is a nice bonus for anyone bouncing between PC and console.
Visually, HeadHunters leans into bold silhouettes and bright arenas, making it easy to track your head even when the screen devolves into a confetti explosion of limbs and projectiles. Animations are snappy, the UI is unobtrusive, and the whole thing runs at a smooth 60fps+ on Series X|S. The soundtrack is upbeat, the sound effects are punchy, and the overall vibe is “Saturday morning cartoon meets Smash Bros fever dream.”

This is not a game pretending to be deeper than it is. There’s no progression grind, no unlock trees, no meta to obsess over. The depth comes from moment‑to‑moment adaptation, not long‑term investment.
For some players, that’s perfect. For others, it may feel a little light after a few hours unless you have a regular group to play with.

Pros
Hilarious, frantic gameplay loop
Clever “you are the head” mechanic that never stops being funny
Smooth 60fps+ performance and clean readability
Great for couch or online play
Fully cross‑platform and Xbox Play Anywhere
Cons
Limited long‑term depth for solo players
Match chaos can overwhelm newcomers
Body variety is good but could expand further post‑launch

HeadHunters is a riotous, fast‑paced party brawler that thrives on spontaneity and physical comedy. It’s the kind of game you break out during game night, not the kind you sink 40 hours into alone, but within its lane, it absolutely nails the landing. If you love chaotic couch multiplayer, improvisational gameplay, and shouting “GIVE ME MY BODY BACK” at your friends, this is an easy recommendation.
