GUNNAR x BLIZZARD REVIEW

Gunnar x Blizzard Review
GunnarXBlizzard

Let’s be real our eyes weren’t built for 8+ hour gaming sessions on top of 8 hour workdays, late night doom scrolling or switching between Discord, Netflix, and Emails all day and that doesn't even cover the weekends or holidays or Reddit rabbit holes you might fall into along the way!

I am sure though that at one stage or another everyone has experienced the negative effects of too much screen time. Logging off and noticing your eyes are burning or irritated with the occasional bonus of having a migraine or strained vision. I personally have been there so many times and have tried using a cold compress or banishing myself from screens to lay in a dark room to alleviate the struggles of migraines.

Patch 1.0.1 – Eye Defense Update:

  • Added GUNNAR Glasses.

  • Buffs: +Sharpness, +Focus, +Style.

  • Nerfed: Blue Light (finally).

  • Status: Day officially saved.

That’s where Gunnar come in and their latest collab with Blizzard takes things to a whole new level. Not only do they help protect your eyes, they actually look good doing it. I got to test the Horde, Alliance, and Diablo IV sets and whether or not you’re a Blizzard fan these glasses might just be your new favorite accessory for surviving screen life.

Included With All Purchases:

  • Flat-Fold Glasses Case

  • Microfiber Pouch

  • Microfiber Cleaning Cloth

  • 12-month Warranty

First Impressions

Each pair is themed after Blizzard’s iconic game worlds, but you don’t have to know the lore to appreciate the designs. Whether it’s the blue and gold accented sleekness of the Alliance frames, the bold red and black energy of the Horde pair, or the edgy, dark Diablo IV design, each one looks sharp without being over the top. If you're into stylish gear with a touch of gamer personality, these hit that sweet spot.

Screen Time Performance

All three use Gunnar’s signature lens tech blue light blocking, glare reduction, and a warm tint that makes long sessions easier on your eyes. I wore them through intensive gaming nights, nightly Netflix shows, even some streaming and they seriously helped reduce that dry, tired-eye feeling with a serious impact on less migraines overall.

Alliance - World of Warcraft

Alliance Glasses
For the Alliance... and My Eyes!

Dimensions:

Lens Width: 53 mm

Nose: 20 mm

Frame Width: 133mm

Temple 145mm

Weight: 18.71g

Definitely the quirkiest pair out of the Blizzard set I received, they make a statement and I love the design. The soft translucent blue frame and gold accents is a nice subtle nod and captures the essence of the Alliance faction which is heavily associated with blue and gold in the game. They’re the first pair I’ve worn that feel like a true fashion statement and I have to say I embraced it, giving me room for thought on glasses I would wear in the future. I normally would pick a basic frame so as to fit with every occasion or outfit but now I know that your glasses can be an accessory too, the Alliance frames have given me the courage to explore just like the faction.

Horde - World of Warcraft

Horde Glasses
The Horde is strong! And so is your vision with Gunnar Glasses.

Dimensions:

Lens Width: 53 mm

Nose: 20 mm

Frame Width: 133mm

Temple 145mm

Weight: 18.71g

The horde frames are very similar to my personal glasses I wear as I'm near sighted, I tend to gravitate to a simple but bold black frame and when I put them on it was an instant yes for the aesthetic, the only drawback was they are a little wide for the size of my head so they feel a little loose on me but not loose enough to fall off. It has an integrated nose pad, which is a plus for anyone like me who pops their glasses on the head from time to time making it impossible to get caught up in hair or snagged on clothes. The only downside to a nose pad that is molded into the frames is that it isn't adjustable like traditional pairs, something to bear in mind when choosing the best fit and function for you.

Sanctuary - Diablo IV

Diablo IV glasses
In the battle against eye strain, Gunnar Glasses are your sanctuary.

Dimensions:

Lens Width: 53mm

Nose: 21mm

Temple: 145mm

Weight: 18.71g

I was a little unsure in the beginning about the style of the Sanctuary frames suiting my face but I was shocked at how many people complimented me when I was wearing them. They were my overall favourite pair to wear by the end, super comfortable when wearing them for long periods of time. I didn't even notice them after awhile as they are so light weight with no ear or nose pressure from wearing them which reduced any additional symptoms that often lead to me having tension or sinus headaches. I was worried that my peripheral would feel obstructed due to the frame design as I generally wear basic styled frames but it proved me wrong and I am delighted!

One Small Downside for Streamers

One thing I noticed when I was streaming is that your screens are directly reflected in the lenses. So just to be mindful if you're on a zoom meeting with your boss and queuing up for the next raid or dungeon. Your gameplay, your browser, even your chat can bounce off the lenses and show up on camera. It’s not a dealbreaker, but if you’re on Twitch or Zoom regularly, it’s something to consider.

Final Thoughts

You don’t need to be a Blizzard fan to appreciate these glasses. They are well made, comfortable, and help protect your eyes plus they add a bit of flair to your setup. Whether you’re grinding ranked matches, editing video, or just living that screen life, these are a stylish way to level up your eye health. Gunnar Optiks Glasses have helped in so many situations for me personally as I do use ALOT of screens on the daily between streaming, gaming in general, Netflix or simply just trying to wind down in the evenings by scrolling through social media I don't feel as 'wired' when trying to fall to sleep and I can feel it in the mornings when I no longer feel that after burn effect from scrolling for hours.

Whether you're a die-hard Blizzard fan or just someone with tired eyes, these frames aren’t just stylish they’re a genuine upgrade for everyday screen time.
