Frostwood Interactive is today thrilled to announce that a new demo for its upcoming investigative, photo-manipulating, psychological horror Shutter Story, is now available to download via Steam, ahead of its participation in Steam Next Fest.
Concurrent to the demo drop, the studio has also launched a Kickstarter campaign, for which it is looking to raise $15,000 to fund the final stretch of the game’s development. A haunting and atmospheric new trailer offers a glimpse at the spectres that lie within the frame and beyond…
A slow-burn tale of hereditary horror, Shutter Story sees players examine a haunted family's photo album, as they uncover a multi-generational secret that has been handed down throughout the years. This chilling experience effortlessly juxtaposes tactile and immersive early 2000's OS-style gameplay with exploratory first-person sequences in which past horrors bleed to the present.
Eli is convinced his family is being haunted. At first you don't believe him, but then he shows you the photos. As a budding image editor, that's where you come in. The fate of Eli and his family rests in your hands.

Armed with the latest SpectralAware™ software, you must analyse, manipulate and edit photos and video clips to unmask the dreadful horrors lying hidden in plain sight - then sort and categorise all traces of the paranormal. Is it an Apparition or a Spectral Form? An Impossible Event or a Demonic Entity? Each category has its own distinct identifying characteristics, for which the detailed in-game handbook will become indispensable.
Between spine-chilling segments of audiovisual analysis, you’ll have the chance to explore Eli’s house, talk to his family, learn about their history through notes and letters, then try to survive as the horror comes to life around you.
The Kickstarter campaign is live now and will run for 30 days, concluding on March 21. A number of pricing tiers are available, each with their own rewards including copies of the game, digital soundtrack, behind-the-scenes PDF, and the option to appear in the in-game guidebook. Stretch goals include additional in-game photos, voice overs and translations. Shutter Story is the second title Frostwood Interactive is crowdfunding, having previously ran a successful campaign for its nostalgic, slice-of-life adventure, Forgotten Fields.
