Two Point Museum: Rides & Relics DLC Review

When Two Point Museum launched, it proved that Two Point Studios had once again found a way to turn an everyday institution into a surprisingly deep management sim. Museums were already entertaining enough, but Rides & Relics asks an obvious question: what if a museum wasn't just educational, but also a theme park? The answer is a DLC that feels far more ambitious than a simple content pack, adding a substantial new campaign, customisable attractions, and some of the most creative management challenges the game has seen so far.

The centrepiece of the expansion is Riquetti Gardens, a brand-new museum location built around the idea of restoring a long-abandoned amusement park. Players work their way through a fresh five-star campaign while uncovering relics from the decaying Gearbox Fairgrounds expedition map. Rather than simply dropping new exhibits into existing museums, the DLC introduces an entirely different style of museum management where entertainment becomes just as important as education.

What immediately stands out is the custom coaster system. The ability to create personalised rides across several themed coaster styles adds a genuinely new layer to the management gameplay. Designing attractions that are exciting enough to draw crowds while still fitting the museum's layout is both rewarding and delightfully chaotic. It captures the spirit of classic theme park builders while maintaining the quirky humour and accessibility that defines the Two Point series.

The new Funfair Expert role is another welcome addition. These specialists venture into the abandoned fairgrounds to recover ride blueprints, exhibits, mascots, and other attractions that gradually expand your amusement empire. Expeditions remain one of Two Point Museum's strongest mechanics, and the Gearbox Fairgrounds map provides plenty of reasons to keep sending teams out in search of hidden treasures.

Beyond the headline attractions, Rides & Relics is packed with smaller additions that help flesh out its theme. New exhibits, decorations, gift shop items, utility objects, mascots, and interactive displays ensure that Riquetti Gardens develops its own distinct personality. Every new unlock feels appropriately carnival-inspired, helping the park slowly transform from a rusting relic into a bustling tourist destination.

Visually, the DLC is exactly what fans would expect from Two Point Studios. Bright colours, absurd mascots, and playful animations make every attraction feel alive. Watching guests wander between historical exhibits before queueing for a roller coaster perfectly captures the expansion's wonderfully ridiculous premise. The humour remains consistently charming, and the writing continues to find comedy in even the most mundane management challenges.

If there's a criticism to level at Rides & Relics, it's that players hoping for a dramatic overhaul of the core museum formula may not find one. The DLC largely builds upon existing systems rather than reinventing them. The coaster mechanics add exciting new possibilities, but beneath the surface you're still managing staffing, guest happiness, finances, and exhibition layouts much as before. For existing fans that's likely a positive, though newcomers may not see it as transformative.

Ultimately, Rides & Relics feels like one of the strongest expansions Two Point Studios has released. The new campaign offers meaningful progression, the ride-building tools provide a genuinely fresh mechanic, and the amusement park theme fits surprisingly naturally within the museum framework. More importantly, it captures the same sense of playful creativity that made the base game so enjoyable in the first place.

Pros

  • Excellent new five-star campaign

  • Custom coaster-building adds meaningful depth

  • Funfair theme perfectly suits the Two Point universe

  • Plenty of new exhibits, mascots, decorations and unlockables

  • Gearbox Fairgrounds expeditions are fun to explore

Cons

  • Core gameplay loop remains largely unchanged

  • Some players may spend more time micromanaging ride layouts than museum exhibits

  • Best enjoyed by existing fans rather than newcomers

For seasoned curators, this is an easy recommendation. Rides & Relics doesn't just add more exhibits to collect; it introduces new ways to think about your museum and turns every visit into part educational trip, part theme park adventure.
