Nova Lands is a charming and addictive base-building game with a hint of RPG action from developer BEHEMUTT and publisher HypeTrain Digital. You start out on a small island with nothing but a few basic resources, but you must use your skills to gather more resources, build structures, and automate your production. As you progress, you will unlock new islands to explore, new resources to gather, and new enemies to battle.
You are a nameless explorer who has crash-landed on a strange planet however the story in Nova Lands is not the main focus of the game, but it does add some depth and context to the gameplay. It is also a good way to learn more about the world of Nova Lands and its inhabitants.
The game starts out by teaching you the basics of resource gathering, crafting, and building. Once you have a basic understanding of these mechanics, you can start to explore the different islands and unlock new content. As you progress, you will encounter a variety of challenges, including hostile enemies, environmental hazards, and resource scarcity. These challenges will test your skills and ingenuity, and they will require you to think strategically in order to overcome them.
The automation system is one of the most important aspects of Nova Lands. It allows you to build bots to help you gather resources, craft items, and build structures. This frees up your time so you can focus on exploration and combat.
To automate a task, you first need to build a bot. Bots can be built from a variety of materials, including wood, stone, and metal. Once you have built a bot, you can program it to perform a specific task. For example, you can program a bot to gather wood, or to craft a specific item.
You can also create production lines with bots. A production line is a series of bots that are all working together to produce a specific item. For example, you could create a production line that gathers wood, then crafts it into planks, then crafts the planks into a chest.
The automation system in Nova Lands is a powerful tool that can help you to streamline your base and become more efficient. With a little planning and experimentation, you can create an automated base that will take care of itself while you explore the world and fight enemies. Talking of combat, you can attack enemies with your fists, or you can use a variety of weapons and tools. The combat is not the most challenging, but it is still fun and engaging. Tools include things like spears, shields, and bombs, plus you can also use your bots to help you in combat. Your bots can attack enemies, defend you, and even heal you.
The progression system is also well-designed. You are constantly unlocking new items and technologies, which keeps the game feeling fresh and exciting.
The difficulty curve is well-balanced. The game starts out easy, but it gradually gets more challenging as you progress which makes the game is very replayable. There are a lot of different ways to play the game, and you can always try to find new ways to optimize your base and production.
The graphics in Nova Lands are absolutely stunning. The game is beautifully rendered in a vibrant, cartoony style. The characters are all adorable, and the environments are lush and inviting. The soundtrack is also excellent, with a mix of relaxing and upbeat tracks that perfectly complement the gameplay.
Overall, I would highly recommend Nova Lands to anyone who enjoys base-building games, RPG games, or just a good challenge. It's a lot of fun for the price, and it's sure to keep you entertained for hours on end. It's only let down slightly by the odd bug, which a little bit of TLC could soon fix.
TOTAL SCORE: 7.5/10
