Kooeh: A Timeless Delight is one of those games that immediately gives off “slow afternoon in a warm kitchen” energy. It’s cozy, colourful, and built around Malaysian and Peranakan desserts, the kind of treats that feel nostalgic even if you didn’t grow up with them. You’re running a tiny dessert café, meeting a cast of expressive animal characters, and slowly piecing together old family recipes. It’s gentle, sentimental, and very much designed for players who want comfort over complexity.

The cooking loop is simple: prepare kuih, serve customers, get rated, repeat. It’s not trying to be a deep management sim. It’s more like a soft rhythm game where the joy comes from the atmosphere rather than the mechanics. The wishing tree for rare ingredients adds a cute magical touch, and the journal gives you little character stories that flesh out the world without overwhelming it.
Visually, Kooeh is lovely. The hand‑drawn art has a warm, homemade feel, expressive characters, soft colours, and desserts that look genuinely delicious. The soundtrack leans into calm, cozy vibes, making it easy to sink into a long session without noticing the time passing.

Where the game stumbles is in its simplicity. The café management is extremely light, and once you’ve settled into the loop, it doesn’t evolve much. Some players will find that relaxing; others might wish for more depth or variety. There are moments where the pacing dips, and a few rough edges in the overall polish can pull you out of the experience. It’s clear the game was made with a lot of heart, but also with the limitations of a small indie team and that shows in both the charm and the imperfections.
Still, there’s something undeniably sweet about Kooeh. It’s earnest. It’s culturally rich. It’s cozy in a way that feels genuine rather than manufactured. The characters are memorable, the desserts are delightful, and the emotional core reconnecting with heritage, family, and food — lands beautifully.

Pros
Warm, cozy atmosphere that makes the café feel like a comforting little escape.
Lovely hand‑drawn art with expressive characters and delicious‑looking desserts.
Strong cultural identity, especially in its Malaysian and Peranakan influences.
Simple, relaxing gameplay loop that’s easy to settle into without stress.
Charming cast of animal characters with memorable personalities.
Sweet, heartfelt story about family, heritage, and rediscovering old recipes.
Gentle soundtrack that fits the cozy vibe perfectly.
Accessible and beginner‑friendly, great for players who want something calm.
Cons
Very light management mechanics — players wanting depth may find it too simple.
Repetition sets in once you’ve mastered the cooking rhythm.
Linear progression means there’s not much replay value.
Some pacing dips where the story slows down more than it needs to.
A few rough edges in polish, typical of small indie productions.
Limited challenge, which might not appeal to players who prefer strategic or complex sims.

If you’re looking for a relaxing café sim with heartfelt storytelling and a strong cultural identity, Kooeh is a lovely little treat. If you want deep systems or long-term progression, it might feel too light. But for what it aims to be, a warm, nostalgic dessert café experience — it succeeds with charm.
