Formula Legends – Formula E: Electric Evolution is the moment the series finally leans fully into the future. What could have been a simple bolt‑on pack of electric cars instead arrives as a surprisingly robust expansion that reshapes how the game feels, plays, and strategises. It’s easily one of the most transformative DLCs Formula Legends has released so far, and crucially it respects what makes Formula E unique rather than just reskinning the existing experience.
The headline feature is the official Formula E licence, bringing with it real teams, drivers, and liveries across all three generations of Formula E machinery including Gen1, Gen2, and the blisteringly quick Gen3 EVO cars. This isn’t just a cosmetic sweep; each generation behaves differently, with the older cars feeling more conservative and the newer ones demanding sharper energy management and more aggressive corner exits. The DLC includes the six real‑world city circuits of Berlin, Tokyo, London, São Paulo, Miami, and Shanghai, each recreated with the tight, angular street‑race character that defines the championship.

What elevates the DLC beyond a simple content drop is the introduction of Formula E’s signature mechanics. Attack Mode is fully implemented, requiring you to deviate from the racing line to activate a temporary power boost. It’s a risk‑reward system that forces you to think ahead: take it too early and you lose track position; take it too late and you may not have the race length to capitalise. The DLC also introduces Pit Boost, Formula E’s mandatory strategic pit stop system for Season 11, adding another layer of timing and energy‑based decision‑making. These mechanics aren’t just present, they’re meaningfully integrated, and they change how you approach every lap.
Visually, the Formula E content blends seamlessly with Formula Legends’ stylised aesthetic. The cartoon‑inflected look remains intact, but the cars retain enough authenticity to feel grounded. The circuits, especially London and Tokyo, pop with colour and detail, and the tight street layouts feel distinct from the more traditional circuits in the base game. The DLC also supports Career, Quick Race, and Time Trial modes, making it feel fully integrated rather than siloed off.

If there’s a drawback, it’s that Formula E’s inherently strategic nature may feel slower or more methodical compared to the high‑speed, high‑downforce eras represented elsewhere in Formula Legends. Players who prefer flat‑out racing may find the energy‑saving meta a little restrictive. But for anyone who appreciates the real‑world championship or simply wants a different flavour of racing, the DLC adds depth without sacrificing accessibility.
Pros
Authentic Formula E licence with real teams, drivers, and all three generations of FE cars
Six official city circuits that feel tight, technical, and distinct from the base game’s tracks
Attack Mode and Pit Boost add meaningful strategy rather than gimmicks
Energy management creates a more tactical, thoughtful racing rhythm
Great value for the amount of content (cars, teams, tracks, modes)
Fully integrated into Career, Quick Race, and Time Trial
Stylised visuals blend well with the FE aesthetic, especially on street circuits
Cons
More methodical pacing may feel slower for players who prefer flat‑out racing
Energy‑saving mechanics can be punishing if you mismanage early laps
Street circuits can feel narrow or unforgiving for newcomers
Less raw speed compared to the high‑downforce eras in the base game

Formula E: Electric Evolution is one of the strongest DLC packs Formula Legends has produced. It’s authentic, thoughtfully designed, and introduces mechanics that genuinely enrich the game rather than padding it. Whether you’re a Formula E fan or just curious about a more strategic style of racing, this is a smart, polished, and surprisingly generous expansion.
